Foreign Familiars

This collection is a work in progress for now. These photos are part of a greater collection of work exploring the defamiliarization of common environments.  By altering the images (primarily only the color, contrast, and levels) the landscapes become foreign, if not alien. This forces us to re-evaluate the entire scene, even what is left and recognizable as familiar.  In doing this we are able to see the uniqueness, strangeness, or even beauty of things around us we take for granted.  What do you take for granted in the world around you? Have you taken for granted what lies around you in your every day life?  Chances are you are.  Stop and take time to re-evaluate your surroundings.  Let the mundane become interesting again.
